Help with converting xlsx to PND (PRN) and it's related errors

    Hi All,

I have to create an xlsx file into a PND, when i was on here earlier i was told to convert my file to a prn, which i have done and they (the bank) can read it but when the recipient of the file opens it it has a few errors that i need help with.

This is so out of my comfort zone!!

Firstly when it converts the program reading the file can see the page breaks from the original excel format. How do i remove these so when i convert it they can't see them?

The next weird thing is that i had everything neatly lined in up rows to (for example) line 250, but when i change it to a PRN file it has shunted some of the information down to line 487. And even more weirdly it hasn't picked from column A it has picked it from random columns.

I don't understand PRN files, how they work or even what the point of them is. I don't know why the bank can't have an excel file!!

I have attached a sample of the data that i turned into a PND. The one thing to note, i forgot to put EOF (end of file) at the bottom of my data i don't know if that makes any difference.

Please help i have to get this working by FRIDAY AARRGGHHHHHHHHHH

    Thanks Emmaly

i cannot understand why anyone would want or ask for a pnd, which is very obscure file extension when excel is so widely used
are you sure thats what you want?

haha unfortunately yes, this is what they have specified. It is a German Bank that requires it, i am not sure if they use this format more on the continent.

But we can't even open the demos properly that they have sent us, it is a nightmare. So i have got them to view PRN, but it is throwing up erros i have no idea about as i have never been asked to use it before.

are you sure its pnd? any way its unusual for someone to ask for an obscure format . send them the xls and let them worry about it. failing that get the software from then to do it.

Unfortunately that is not an option. I am sending them the file as a prn and getting them to use that, but they won't accept an xls file.

Do you know how to save to a prn without the pagebreaks coming through in the format?

I will see if i can find a way of fixing the other problems.

But i can assure you this is what they want, and as it is our new bank i don't have any choice and if i tell the bank to accept an xls and get on with it, i will probably get fired!
