Question Look up an item in a table and display the cost associated

I've been racking my (very limited) brain on this subject and tried many different things but to no avail. Could you lend me your expertise???

Here's what I'm trying to do:
In one cell I've created a dropdown list (via validation) and in the adjacent cell a sub-dropdown list. In the 3rd column I want to write a formula that finds the sub-dropdown value on a worksheet and displays the cost associated with it in the next column.

Ex. The user selects 'Drywall' from the 1st dropdown list, then '1/2" aquaboard' in the sub-dropdown. The sheet then should populate the 3rd column with the cost I've specified within a named range on another worksheet.

Can you help?? I've tried vlookups and hlookups and matches, etc. But I havent found the answer yet.

    The Estimator.xls

    Thanks!

    hello
    maybe like this..

INDEX('Item List'!K2:K6 change this to the appropriate column--cost

    in D4
    =INDEX('Item List'!K2:K6,MATCH(Estimate!B4&Estimate!C4,'Item List'!J1&'Item List'!J2:J6,0)) ctrl+shift + enter
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "

    Regards,

It works! But doesn't quite do the trick if I change the first drop down to something other than 'Drywall' is there a way to range of cells change depending on what the first dropdown says? Ie: if 'Drywall' is selected the range is J2:J6 or if 'Framing' is selected it is P2:P16.
