How can I get the LEFT function to stop when there is a symbol???

I have this sheet where I convert account numbers depending on system to match the format from a database… (my formula is in column e)only issue is the system that ='s cls. Employees usually mark the account number like 11111-11 but it there shouldn’t be no “-“. Is there a way I can extract all the characters to the left of the “-“???
