Adding people to multiple groups for a stakeholder list

    Hi all,

I'm very much a novice with Excel and need a bit of help. I'm creating a stakeholder list for work so I basically have a table with lots of names, contact details etc along with the group each person belongs too. My plan is to be able to add everyone to at least one group and, later on, filter on any group I want and be able to send the whole group an email or meeting request.

Well i'm stuck with the first bit I have everyone on a seperate row but because some people exist in more than one group, they have multiple line. I dont really want that. I'd like to be able to select a number of group values for any given person but only have one entry for that person. Is there any way I could do that? Does it even make sense?

    I'm using Excel 2002 SP3

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Tom

    Hi Tom.

    Did you try Auto Filter?

But in any case, be sure, that best way to describe your problem, is ti attach a sample workbook.

Sorry, my bad. I've attched a sample spreadsheet now. Basically, i want to not have to have seperate lines for each time a person belongs to a different group.

    Cheers

    Hi

One simple way to do this, is a new column, the COUNTIF function and an Auto Filter.

New column is A. So in A3, put the formula. =COUNTIF($D$3:D3,D3). Copy down

Then use the Auto Filter by column A and option 1.

Take a look to the example.

    Hope to helps you.
