Apply same Filter across multiple colums with different dates

    Hi,

I am very basic at using excel, and I have googled this and can't get my head round it, as I keep getting errors.

I have a spreadsheet with 12 columns, 3 of which contain dates, I want to apply a filter to each column to just show that dates current for each month, (I will Duplicate the same sheet, and use the same filter for each Month once I get this to work)

How do I do this, I can use the filter on each column, I have tried using advanced and no go.

The month I am starting this with is February.

    Hi Danimarie,

Try using Advanced Filter and include Month(today()) in criteria.
In case of any confusion, would suggest you to post a sample file. Thanks.

Thankyou and I have tried that, for Month Today, however it wont carry across multiple columns, Each of my 3 columns have dates ranging from Nove' 11 to Now, and I want to show in EACH of the columns the dates for the current month, when I use the above filter it will apply it to that column only and even if I add it to the other 2 it still wont bring up the data.

When you apply a filter to a table based on criteria in a particular column, it filters the entire table based on that filter. So and "current month" data that is in any of the other columns, but that is rows other than those selected in the 1st filter, will be hidden, and any subsequent filters will not recognise them.

1 option would be to add a helper column that looks into each of the columns you want to filter, and returns a 1 (for instance) when any of the columns has the date range you want. Then you could filter on just that column, and it would show your required value that is in any of the columns.

    A formula like =if(or(a1="date reuired),b1="date reuired",etc etc),1,0) would probably work for you
