How to copy from one Excel spreadsheet to another retaining the actual text NOT formula?

How do I copy from one Excel sheet into another so that the actual text NOT the formula is transposed into the new sheet? I need to make the results public and people will want to read the actual text as the formula will be meaningless.

    Thanks for your help.

If you need all the data from one sheet to the other, then use.

    Copy>>Paste special>>Only values.

    Thank you.

I use = then go to the sheet from where I want to copy the text then enter once I am on the appropriate cell.
Excel then inserts the formula into my document.

I think I will just have to do a straight copy and paste.

Another question? Is there a way for excel to know how many figures are in a horizontal line and divide the total by the number of entries to get the average?

    11 19 27 space 55 space 22 TOTAL here would be 26.8 (135 divided by 5)

Is there a way for Excel to calculate this if I highlighted the line instead of me telling it to divide by 5?

Don't use the = sign. Go to the source, copy then in the destination Paste Values.

If your values are in A1, B1, C1, E1 use:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

If you select the cells A1:E1 you will see in the lower right of the Excel window the total and the average. If you don't see that, right click to the left of the Zoom area and select what you want to see in the Status Bar.
