Values won't sort (using formulas)

I have a spreadsheet with Column A as text, Columns B through H as numbers but are pulled using a formula (from a different sheet). So, for example, Column B is ='Results'D21. The results column from the other sheet is also in number format.

When I sort that column largest to smallest, it appears as a random sort. If I sort again largest to smallest, I would expect it to be the same, but it's a different random sort.

I tried setting the formula as =VALUE('Results'D21) and it still does the same. But, if I paste as values, then it works fine.

Any ideas why it would do this?

Go with absolute cell references in your formulas.
