    MONTH function

    Hi All!

    I am trying to understand this function in an excel sheet sent to me:
    Please Login or Register  to view this content.
    Can someone A) explain what is happening and B) What is the MONTH funtion doing and C) What the set of quotations do when they have nothing in between them?

    It might help if you post the workbook.

    I'm guessing there's a named range "month".

    You could use Evaluate Formula to determine how it gets whatever result it gets.

    There are quite a bit of links within this workbook and when i copy just one worksheet to a new workbook, the named range Month is no longer a named range. I figured out that Month is a named range and it is basically a drop down menu with the names of the months. Does this help without posting a workbook? If not i will find a way to post it.

    Also, how do i use the evaluate formula? Would that be in VBE?

    Excel has this built in tool to help understand formulas. It is shown and explained at http://excel-user.blogspot.com/2010/...xcel-2010.html
    I hope this helps you understand how the formula works and what it is doing.
