Formula to limit maximum value

I have a large column of data and wish to run a formula over the data which checks the value and changes it to a set value if it exceeds a certain amount.

ie. for a single field it would look like this IF(C7>50,50,) but this doesn't run over the whole column.

Hi,

You need to clarify exactly what you mean with a specific example - preferably in a workbook.
For instance what's the default condition for the IF() test? i.e what if C7 <=50
Are you looking to use the maximum column C value in the IF test?
What do you mean by 'run over the whole column'?
