help with extracting data from table

I have a big table with much data.
From this data I need to create reports based on the first column of the table.
Is there a way to do this without using a pivot table or a macro?
Commands like VLOOKUP only return the first found record.
Sample file attached and help much apreciated.

    Hello,

Your profile says you use Excel 2003, but you attach a file that has clearly been created in a later version. Please update your profile to reflect your actual Excel version. This information helps us to provide you with a solution that works best for the version you are using, so make sure it is correct.

In the sheet "table" add some text as a header for column A in A4. Then use Data > Filter > Autofilter

Click the drop-down in A4, select "1" and see the data filtered to only the rows that have a "1" in column A.

    See attached.

    Thank you Teylin, Profile updated.
Using filters doesn't work for me, to much that is not required from rows.

Charlie_Howell your sample does exactly what I need, thank you.
Now I only have to sit down and see what you have done :-)
    Thanks

    Nice approach, Charlie,

The question arises, though, what makes this better than a pivot table.

@gwminkl , is there a specific reason you don't want to use a pivot table? It would provide what you want to achieve with just a few clicks, no formulas involved.

Why do you want to re-invent the wheel that pivot tables already provide????

the file is not for me to use but for excel dummies (I am a dummy if it comes to pivot tables)
The only option the users have is to fill in 1 piece of data (F4 in sheet report sample from Charlie) all the rest is locked.
