    identify or remove dead hyperlinks?

I've not seen any solution to this, so thought I would pose the question again. I have a file that creates hyperlinks based on assumed file placement. For about 85% of the files, the hyperlink is correct, but for the other 15%, there is no file that the link points to. Has somebody created a macro, or is there a formula that can be used that would mark (or delete) links that result in the message box when clicked:

Unable to open http://www.mywebsite.net/sites/myfile.pdf. The internet site reports that the item you requested could not be found. (HTTP/1.0 404)

The only idea I have is to load this onto a local server as an HTML document and use a firefox add-on that lists all dead links, but that's really ideal given the frequency I need to run this report...

You could try this macro which highlights cells containing dead hyperlinks in red.
