    How to display a different value for a column data

    HI For Gender our tables store '1' and '2'

    I would like to show "M" when 1
    and "F" when 2.

    I tried the FILTER but it doesn't seem to be the right way.

    This can't be done directly with formatting.
    You could add a column next to the gender column and use

    Drag/Fill Down
    Then hide the original column.

    If you don't need to retain the original column then put the formula in a spare column, copy the result and Paste Special > Values to the original range.
    If you need any more information, please feel free to ask.

    Custom number format
    [=1]"M";[=2]"F";General

    will do that.
    Good luck.

    There is really no need to stand.

    Thank you for the rep, though I seem to have now gone from 'attaining expert status' to being merely 'confident in my ability'. Not sure that is progress (even if it be more accurate).
