    Is this possible...

    hey everybody,

Im hoping somebody might be willing to tell me how I would go about doing this calculation with excel.

What Im trying to do is:

    Make a formula that will calculate 40% of 0-4000, 45% of 4001-8000, and 50% of 8000+.

so if a cell equals 11000 this formula will take

    40% of the first 4000
    45% of 4001 - 8000
    50% of the remaining 3000.

any help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance !!!!

If your value is in cell A1 then in a.n.other cell put:

    =MIN(4000*0.4,A1*0.4)+MAX(0,MIN(0.45*(A1-4000),0.45*4000))+MAX(0,0.5*(A1-8000))
