It is possible, but in order for Excel to work like a database (which it isn't) you have to at least adhere to a few rules. In this case, every row in column A should contain the item you want to group on. You can then filter that column and return only the items you want.
Alternatives would be using Grouping (for which you can manually set) or use macros. It would be 99.99% simpler just to repeat the column A values for each sub-entry.
