    Incidentally did you realise that you could just format row 1 as "ddd" to show the three letter day?

    Perfect! Thank you very much, I can see where I went wrong. I had selected the area I want to format but also selected the entire area to change when the value is true rather than individual coloumns. Also thank you for the tip regarding changing the format of the date so I don't need to have two rows.
