    hlookup alternative

    in row 4, i have a running list of identifiers (example: e4 = ID1099 ; e5 = ID1100). in row 2, i have corresponding dates.

is there a way i can have it set so that the date is automatically returned on my summary spreadsheet without having to move rows around? i have tried hlookup but was unsuccessful with current formatting.

    thanks for any attempted help

    Hi Kamelkid,

On you summary sheet you need date to be returned automatically... but on what basis?
I believe you are entering an ID somewhere on the summary sheet.. It would be better if you can share a sample spreadsheet.. Thx

yes the IDS are in row 4, and i have corresponding dates in row 2 for each column

what i essentially want to do is change a horizontally expanding column into a vertically expanding column

    HI Kamelkid,

I think you have not got me correctly.
You have the IDs in row 4.. but on which sheet.. is it data sheet or summary sheet?
similarly for dates which are in row 2 for each column.

Would again suggest you to upload a sample file. Thanks.
