Excel 2007 : Add Text to Particulars cells based on dates

I have created a gannt chart with dates along the top (j5:z5) with tasks in column b (b5:b200) and start dates in column d (d5:d200). I used conditional formating to create the gannt chart, but I have not figured out how to add labels on only the cells that correspond with the start date. If I use an if statement, all the cells have info in them, even if they appear blank, and the text I want to see won't write into the next cells. Is there a way to search for the right cells within the table and insert the text in only the cell that matches the start date in each row?
