    Lookup date in row > today

    Dear all,

    I am searching through several forums but did not find a satisfiyng answer to my probblem yet.
    I cannot solve a part of an index function that is a as followed:

    I am looking for a formula that search in a row with all kinds of dates. It must than give me the first date that is greater than today.
    I already tried combining a hlookup with an if function but I get an error everytime.
    Does somebody know an answer to this problem?

    Thanks

    Regards Ralph

    Welcome to the board:

    =INDEX(G9:AJ9,MATCH(TODAY()+1,G9:AJ9))

    If the date range is in G9 - AJ9

    Re: Lookup date in row > today

    Hi edvwvw, thank for your answer.

    However when the range is as followed:
    40,287 40,646 40,737 40,923 41,000 41,090 41,213

    The formula shows 40,737, so this is <today.
    So somehow the formula is wrong.

    You have any idea why?

    Thansk for quick reaction!

    Regards Ralph

    Re: Lookup date in row > today

    or perhaps:

    =INDEX(A2:Z2,MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(A2:Z2>TODAY(),0),0))

    where A2:Z2 contains the row of dates.
    Where there is a will there are many ways.

    This will do it

    =INDEX(C8:I8,MATCH(TODAY()+1,C8:I8,TRUE)+1)
