    Splitting cell contents

    Hi Everyone,

I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to using Excel thus the reason i joined this forum.
Can someone please help? I am trying to seperate 2 parts of one cell.
So basically this cell (AUTPT - A1 Telekom Austria AG), i would like to split into 1 cell being AUTPT and the other being A1 Telekom Austria AG.

Is it possible for someone to provide me with a forumala for this?

    thanks in advance all

    Re: Seperation

Hi and welcome to the board.

Please have a look at our rules about thread titles. In your case " Splitting cell contents" would be more descriptive than " separation". Please amend your thread title - Thx

    Re: Splitting cell contents

With your data in A2 down
    In B2
    =LEFT(A2,FIND(" - ",A2,1)-1)
    In C2
    =MID(A2,FIND(" - ",A2,1)+LEN(" - "),255)
If you need any more information, please feel free to ask.

Or use Data Text To Columns, use space as separator then delete the column that contains the hyphen

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Will that not split all the words into seperate columns?

Indeed. Using the - as separator would be much better

    Re: Splitting cell contents

    @ Arthur
And that will yield a traling space in the first cell, and a leading space in the second.
