Formula to find value/text

Hi,

I'm looking for a formula that will find a character in a spreadsheet and then give the value of the cell to the left of it.

For example if I put an * in my worksheet, I'd like the result of the formula to be the cell to the left of the *.

The *will only ever be between this range g25 - k45.

Is this possible?
