    Memory Needed for Pivot Table

I'm dealing with a spreadsheet that has around 500,000 rows and 100 columns in excel 2011. I would like to generate pivot table report for the entire sheet, but it says there is not enough memory. My current computer has 8 GB ram. What kind of memory would I need to allow excel to do those kind of calculations?

if you're using 32 bit Excel, if I remember correctly, Excel can only utilize up to 4GB of Ram. Do you know how to use MS Access or MS SQL Server?

By the way, I miss Chicago! Moved to SF for 6 months, don't seem to enjoy it.

No don't know how to use that stuff, thinking about learning it now that I can't do this function in excel. I think excel 2011 is 64-bit? I'm not positive. Is there any work around on that? Any way I can utilize my full 8 GB?
