% of a currency

Hi

this sounds a daft question

but how can i work out a % of a currency
i am trying to work out what percentage 213 docs are of the currency !

i have added up all the docs which gives me a total of 1668
i worked out 1% of 1668 which gives me 16.68
i then got the doc/ 16.68 which gave me a % in thousands, and then i divided that by 100 to get me accurate %

but for some reason i am thinking this is incorrect

You can simply use formula =213/1668 with % format

=F7/$F$13

The blue shaded area shows each "docs" as a percent of the total "docs". The "docs" percent matches your final numbers so maybe that's what you're trying to get, although you have really gone round in circles to get the result. You need only to divide the number by the total and format as a percent.

(I also added a column to show each amount in pounds as a percent of the total amount, but you don't seem to be looking at pounds.)
