Cut and paste without getting =#REFERENCE in depending formulas

    Hi,

Lets say I have a value in A1 and a formula referring to A1 in B1
    If i cut-and-paste a value from say A2 into A1 I get an error-message in B1.
Is there a way to avoid this? (I have already figured out that it works as I want if I do Copy-paste instead of cut-and-paste, but is there a better way?)

    Best regards Marcus

    Hello Marcus,

Not as far as I know.

Why do you think something other than Copy/Paste would be inherently "better"? How are you defining "better"?

    Copy/Paste seems pretty straightforward.

Re: Cut and paste without getting =#REFERENCE in depending formulas

    Hi Richard,

The area I am copying from (A2 in my example) is actually a list of posts which I am pasting into the calculation/area (A1:B1 in my example).
One by one or a group of posts but seldom the entire list.
The reason that I would prefer cut and paste that then would posts "automatically" disappear from the list when I've started processing them.

    Kind regards Marcus

    OK Marcus, understood.

I don't know why it works that way. Frankly I've never noticed before what I agree seems somewhat odd behaviour.

You could use the following simple macro attached to either a button or probably better make it a shortcut key combination like say Ctrl j , (just don't use one of the application reserved letters like say c, x etc.)

Re: Cut and paste without getting =#REFERENCE in depending formulas

If you had a formula like =A1 in B1, then replace it with =INDEX(A:A,1)

Now cut and paste should still give result in B1.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Thank you very much Richard and NVBC. I'll test both of your suggested solutions.

    Best regards Marcus
