    Change to mmddyyy format

    Greetings!

Have this tricky situation - have an excel sheet with 2996 rows of data, in ColD dates are present as "31-october-2011" format instead of being in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Now i have to sort by date to do further operations on this excel.. it is making me , b'coz no matter what i do .. the format is not changing to desired format.

Kindly let know if this could this be solved in any way?

    Best Regards,
    Mahesh

    Probably text looking like dates

    Select the range
Select Data Text to Columns - Next Next - Select Date format as DMY on the last windows of the wizard - Finish
Now you can sort and format as required

    Hi,

Assuming they are text values rather than serial dates formatted to look like that try selecting the dates and using Text To Columns at the 3rd step you can specify the format that the dates are held in the cell and they will be parsed into serial date values that you can format as you like.
