Average and Standard Deviation Question

I had a question regarding simple averages and standard deviations. I am taking the Average of a number of data points in different sheets. I also am taking the standard deviation of the same data points.

Is there anyway to obtain the standard deviation other than doing =AVERAGE(select data points), and then =STDEV(selecting same items from sheet)? Are there any short cuts that allow me to use the previously selected data points to perform a separate operation in a separate cell?
