    Hi all,
I am trying to break a link from the worksheet, however its not allowing me to break it.
What could be the possible reason? Is there an alternate way to break a link?

What does the link look like (formula)?
What are you doing to try to break it?
What happens when you try to break it?

    Re: Break Link

    Hi,
Its not a formula, its another excel file from where i am deriving some values.
I am using Alt E K (basically using Alernate keys to use the break link function)
When i am trying to break the link excel is not allowing me to break it.

    Re: Break Link

What version of Excel are you using? (I suggest you add that to your profile)

If you have a link, it is a formula. It would look something like

    ='[another file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$C$2

So, what does the link look like (formula)?

When you hit ALT-E, it brings up a dialog box allowing you to select Break. Do you get the dialog box? If so, what happens when you hit Break?

In other words, what happens when you try to break it?

Doing "copy" then "paste values" will do the same thing, by the way.

    Re: Break Link

If the file is protected, it wont allow you to break links. If i am not mistaken, if its shared too, you cannot break links. Check these parameters first.
