    Re: serious damaged..unable to open

Opened OK for me in Excel 2007 but crashed when I tried to save it as .xls file.

However, Excel recovered and recovered the file ... which is attached

See if this works for you.

    Re: serious damaged..unable to open

    Hi TMShucks,

I opened it fine in 2010, but it didn't update the links (probably a different file).

They seem to be improving the recovery system from version to version of office.

    Re: serious damaged..unable to open

When I opened the file, I had the option to (try to) update the links, which I didn't do as I don't have the linked file.

Other than that, one of the sheets had some filters which I cleared before saving the file and re-posting it.

    Regards

It opens fine in 2010. Saving to 2003 seems to have probems with Data Validation Rules

    Try opening with Open Office
    Hope that helps.

    Re: serious damaged..unable to open

Ahhh ... just tried to open the file in 2003 and it won't/can't recover it.

I suppose we could just save it as .xlsx and hope the converter would cope?

    No input from OP yet.

I've saved the file as an .xlsx type.

See if you can open it and if the converter can cope with it.

    Re: serious damaged..unable to open

As all others have said the file opens in 2007+ versions and open office.

The problem seems to be with links to workbooks, are they shared over a network?
Try opening the related files before you open your workbook, leave them open and then open the corrupted file.

If that fails, and I suspect it will, and you don't have access to a higher level of excel, this file might be the best you will get.
(Formulae and links have been removed and cleaned.)

The formulae you had were rather random and the validation seemed irrelevant to the sheets.
I'm possibly wrong, but the application of any formula certainly needs revising.

Here are the named ranges that are missing in the attached workbook

This file opens on my 2003 and earlier machines.
