Is it possible to make a graph's pillars change using a cell value?

This would be incredibly helpful as I'm making a workbook that is dependent on graphs, and at the moment I am having to enter change the fill color manually which as you can imagine , is not ideal.
I have been told I can do this using a macro, however it wasn't explained clearly enough for me to apply it to my set of data.
