ok, so i have made a spreadsheet that i use to do all my quotes and process orders from, now im trying to adapt it to calculate how much materials i will be using for the order.

As i get busier, I would like to try log with my quotes and orders how much material i have in stock and how much i need if an order is placed.

Just as a rough guide. anyway

So i have got a simple spreadsheet so far that has the fields

QTY
Length
Height
Item Spacing
Media_Width

From this i should be able to work out the most economical way to process the order on the roll to use the least amount the length of the roll

as in, do i leave the design horizontal, or turn the design 90 degrees and print the designs up the roll,
Now im pretty good with Excel, but this has got me stumped as i think there must be an easy way to do this.

EG 1
QTY - 3
Length - 200mm
Height - 100mm
Item Spacing - 7mm
Media_Width - 1300mm

Now with this quote there is only 3 items in the quote, and the item is longer than taller, so obviously you leave them normal, printing 3 side by side with 7mm space between them.

EG 2
QTY - 20
Length - 200
Height - 100
Item Spacing - 7mm
Media_Width - 1300mm

Now this quote has 20, so i want to have excel work out should I print them horizontal or turn them 90 degrees, or turn 1 + rows 90 degrees and the remaining stay horizontal.

Anyone got an easy answer... other than putting each order in versaworks and having it tell me the answer. There must be a way to work it out mathmatically

Regards
