    Calculating a person's age

I need to calculate a person's age given their birthdate and death date. My wife gave me a this formula =SUM(G2-F2)/365.25 with "G" being date of death and "F"beinig date of birth, which works great for the 1900s and 2000s. But for a brithdate in the late 1800s it cannot calculate the age. This would seem to be a problem with the date function in Excel. Any ideas on how to get it to calculate with dates in the 1800s?

    This may be insightful.

And here is a macro on the Microsoft Support site that specifically deals with age calculations prior to 1900.

To Excel, the world started in 1900. In VBA, dates go back to 100AD.

So you could use a simple UDF:

    Try this formula

    =DATEDIF(IF(ISNUMBER(F2),EDATE(F2,400*12),(LEFT(F2,LEN(F2)-4)&RIGHT(F2,4)+400)+0),EDATE(G2,400*12),"y")

This should work for DOBs before 1900
