    Gray area - excel spreadsheet

Hello everyone, I have inherited a workbook with a gray area in one sheet.
This gray area starts at row 103 in my case.

Now the rows are not hidden, there is no filter activated, there are no named ranges harrasing me, the scroll area is NOT locked in the VBA explorer. And yes, I have tried all views: "normal," "page break" etc.

I cannot begin to fathom what is going on, I have tried everything in my power to get these rows back into my spreadsheet, alas I cannot solve this problem

At the same time I cannot insert rows as I get the wellknown error: "Microsoft Excel cannot shift nonblank cells off the worksheet.".
Now as I can't view the last rows of the spreadsheet, I can't remove whatever needs deleting.

    Please help!

    Pelle

    Hello Pelle,

select the square above row 1 and to the left of column A to select all rows and columns in the sheet. Right-click and choose "Row Height". Set to 15.

Does that make the rows appear?

    cheers,

    Hi Pelle,

Sounds like rows 104 onwards have been Hidden.

On the row number, click on the number 103 to select the row. Hold the click button and drag it down into the gray area. Release mouse button, right click on 103, and Unhide.

    Hope this helps.

    I feel so foolish!
Teylyn you were completely correct! I don't believe I didn't think of that, thanks very much, now I can use the worksheet again! Must have been a prankster who set it at 0,1 or whatever

Re: Gray area - excel spreadsheet

    For the record:

Row height = 0 is the same as hiding rows and could be reverted by unhiding.
Row height = 1 would show a gray area, but you would be able to select cells and navigate into the gray area.
Row height = 0.1 looks the same as hidden rows, but can't be reverted by unhiding, only by setting a new row height.

That's a mean prank to pull. Fill their sugar bowl with salt!

I also have a gray area below my data. There are no hidden rows - I tried both previous suggestions to 1) increase the row height and 2) unhide. It happened after I filtered the data, so I cannot add any rows below the last row (46) of data. Suggestions?
