    Excel Date Problem in 2007

    Hi,

I have a spreadsheet created in Excel 2003 that downloads data from a website including dates. I then use various date functions such as hour(), weekday() on that date. The spreadsheet works great on Excel 2003 but when I use the spreadsheet in Excel 2007, all those date functions don't work and I get an error.

How can I fix this so that my .xls spreadsheet works in Excel 2007?

    Thanks,

    JK

Are the dates actual dates? Check the number format
    Hope that helps.

Yes. When I use the spreadsheet at work using Excel 2003, it treats the dates as dates but when I open it at home with Excel 2007, it no longer treats the dates as dates.

I can't understand why that is. Can you post an example workbook?

Re: Excel Date Problem in 2007

Attached is a sample of my problem.

When I download data that includes dates in Excel 2003, it treats dates as dates. When I open the same spreadsheet in Excel 2007, the dates that I download are not treated as dates and using date functions on them returns error messages.

Re: Excel Date Problem in 2007

I think it has something to do with the way Excel 2007 imports .csv files vs how Excel 2003 does it. When I import a csv file with dates in Excel 2003, it treats the value as a date but in Excel 2007, it treats my values as text.

    Can you suggest a solution?

    Thanks.
