Make a column/row read only

take follwing steps

select worksheet
right click and select format cell and in protection tab uncheck "Locked"

then select required column
right click and select format cell and in protection tab check "Locked"

then in protect sheet check "select unlocked cells" and unselect all other options

your could locked any row(s) and column(s) or cells seperatly or jointly and locked cells will be read only after protection
