    Searching Cells for Text

There is a very high likelihood that I am being phenomenally stupid when asking this but I'm stumped so I'll ask anyway.

Cell A1 containts the text: Roadshow - Frankfurt
In B1 I wish to type =if(A1="*Roadshow*","",A1) to return a blank cell if A1 contains the term: Roadshow. However my IF statement is returning FALSE.

    Any ideas? Cheers.

    clarkejoe,

Several different methods to perform that check. I personally like CountIF():
    =IF(COUNTIF(A1,"*Roadshow*")>0,"",A1)

    Hope that helps,
