Unhappy Sum on % of a figure.

    Hello All,

Thanks for reading. I have a problem

i dont know how to example what i need doing but i will try my best.

i have a number lets say 100 and what i want to do is add 30% of of that number to another cell,

so if i have 100 and want to -30% from the number and add that "70" to another number

so if i have 100 and take away 30% = 70 and then add that to 300 the answer is 370.

hope i have explained this properly.

    thx

youll need seperate cells for your numbers say a1=100 b1 = 300 then in c1 =(A1-A1*30%)+B1

Re: Sum on % of a figure.

It's important to always post the version of Excel you're using so we can provide pertinent instructions. I'll assume you're using Excel 2007 or later.

    With A1:A4 containing these numbers
    100
    200
    300
    400

    and
    C1: a base number....100
    D1: a percent...........70%
    E1: =$C$1*$D$1

    • Select E1...CTRL+C (to copy it)
    • Select A1:A4
    • Home.Paste.Paste_Special
    ...Check: Add
    ...Check: Formulas
    ...Click: OK

    A1 will now contain: =100+($D$1*$C$1)
and the new displayed values for A1:A4 will be:
    170
    270
    370
    470

Is that something you can work with?
