Question losing formatting on shared file

Hi. I have an excel file on a SharePoint server. My Excel 2007 opens the file in compatibility mode and I find all formatting gone, i.e., dates have become general, cell color formatting is gone.

I will correct the formatting and re-post the file and the next person to open it finds the formatting gone. There are others that can edit the formatting and it doesn't disappear for them. It must be my program or computer.

Does anyone know what is going on with this?

Is this a shared workbook, where people can edit at the same time? If so, don't be surprised by anything in that file. Shared workbooks WILL become corrupt.
