    Number Formatting

I am trying to format several cells in a spreadsheet to match the format of one other cell. For instance, when I type in 0.01 (or 0.001, or 0.0001) in the reference cell, I want all other cells with numbers to reflect the same format even if the last digit(s) is a zero. The custom formats all drops off zeros to the right of the last number. I have several cells performing calculations, and I need the format to match the reference cell.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    This should work,

    #,##0.####0

Place the # sign to the right of the decimal point for the max number of characters you expect to have.

Thanks for trying. Your solution didn't do what I need. I'm beginning to think there is no way to accomplish what I want.

    Thanks anyway.

    Re: Number Formatting

    Hi,

Why not just copy the reference cell and use Paste Special Formats on the numbers you want to reformat?

    Re: Number Formatting

I tried the 'copy' and 'paste special- format' first. It does not do what I'm looking for. The reference cell will be one of the following: 0 .1, 0.01, 0.001, 0.0001, 0.00001. The goal is to have the other cells with numbers display the same number of digits as the reference cell. If any of the other cells have a number like '1.2630' and the reference cell is '0.0001', then the number displayed is '1.263'. The trailing zero is dropped automatically. I'm looking for a way to keep the same number of decimal places as the reference cell even if there are trailing zeros.

    Thanks for the reply.
