    Summing for duplicate items

Hi all, I have a question that I couldn't solve after 2 days of searching, maybe you could help me.

I want in an worksheet to sum up all the values corresponding to a certain item that appears once or several times in a column (which I shall call reference column), and this for ALL the items in the reference column (the table I want to do this contains thousands of entries).

For example, in my little table here, I want to sum the total number of individual hits for each person in the reference column (Name). In addition, once this number is calculated, I want to populate an additional column (Total Hits) with the corresponding totals (as showed in the column Example).

I'd like to point out that the number of rows must remain the same (so no consolidation, deletion, or merging whatsoever). I've been messing around with the SUMIF function but without success so far. Thanks in advance.
