    Excel Date/Year issue

    Hello,

Just recently my computer was replaced as the old one cratered. I setup all my settings exactly as they were in my previous setup (regional, language). Same version of excel, however when I enter only the month & date only, it assumes the date is a year and sets it for the first of the month.

    Example:

    Entered: Aug 23
    Expected: 23-Aug-2011
    Result: 01-Aug-2023

It has never done this before. What am I missing guys?

Hi Clippysdead and welcome to the forum. I liked the dog better than clippy myself.

I believe you need to change the default regional settings on the new computer for time and data.

Look in the control panel for regional settings.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Hello Thanx MarvinP!

I've already verified the regional seetings. As a Canadian, they're always wrong.

    Hi Clippysdead,

There is a setting to use the Apple Mac default date/time in excel. Perhaps you have that set to Macs?

    Read the bottom of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303216
I have an option in my 2010 Excel Advanced Options to use 1904 date system. See if you can find it in your options.
