Question deciphering year then adding corresponding numbers

In column A I have numerous dates (i.e. 4/12/2007, 8/20/2009, 9/30/2009, etc.). In column G I have lbs added for that specific date (i.e. 100, 150, 300, etc.). I need a formula that will give me a total for all of the pounds added during a specific year.
