Excel 2007 : Cell displays all #######,

I have a spreadsheet that I used for both numbers and text. In one of the columns, only text is entered. In one of the cells, I have entered some text (well below the 1024 character count) and when I click off the cell, all that is displayed in the cell is a row of # signs. If I click on the cell, the formula bar shows the text, but only the # sign still shows in the cell. What am I doing wrong?

There are no negative numbers in the text. This is the text of the cell:
"This was for a name change. Lisa had me forward it to Christian. He needs to get the appropirate documentation before the change can be made. Email from Christian: The student is currently enrolled for the summer 2011 session. Name change will be updated once the session is over."
