    VLOOKUP with IF function

    Hi,

I require help in the following:

    ROW 1 ROW 2 ROW 3
    2 1
    6 2
    8 3
    4
    5
    8

I want a fomula that put a "1" into row one when the value in row 2 is in row 3.

So in the above example there would be a "1" in row one along with number "2" and "8" from row 2.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks for any help.

im confused with the format you have posted. looks like you have row headers in place of column headers

    An example spreadsheet would help

Oh god yea, sorry. I dont know how to upload an example spreadsheet.

So instead of rows its Columns :S

So, the formula should say, when in cell A1:

When the value in column B1 is somewhere in the array C1 - C50 then put a 1 if not put a zero.

    Does that help?

Hm, unfortunately that formula comes up with 0's everywhere although its not supposed to have zeros in some cells.

    Re: VLOOKUP with IF function

OK, I have figured out why this doesnt work. It looks like the values in my column C are not numbers but "text".
