    Protecting certain columns

Hi All - My excel skills are lacking but I'd like to learn! I'm using excel 2007 and would like to lock only certain columns but leave the rest open for editing.

Is there a way that I can lock say columns a,b,c and then n,o,p but leave the others available for edit?

    Thanks for any help!

(I suggest you update your profile to replace 2003 with 2007.)

Select the entire worksheet by clicking in the upper left corner, between the A and the 1.

Home, Format, Lock Cell to unlock the cells. The little lock icon should now be unhighlighted.

Click and drag on A, B, C to select the entire columns. Hold down the CTRL key and repeat for N, O, P until all 6 columns are highlighted.

Home, Format, Lock Cell to lock the cells. The little lock icon should now be re-highlighted.

Review, Protect Sheet, OK to turn on protection.
