THe problem is the name i am looking up shows up multiple times, but with I do the vlookup it only brings back the first instance.

    Hi Gill,

VLOOKUP is only supposed to return the first match (or approximate match). What are you trying to get it to do? Return the last match? Return all matches? It doesn't work that way. You would have to use different formulas to get multiple matches in separate cells, or a macro if you wanted all the results in one cell. (Or one very long formula.)

Red face Re: vlook up with multiple criteria

im trying to return the first match, and then as there are multiple "MAQUINA" in the data. Thus after the vlook up finds the first Maquina, and brings back the #, i want to be able to go down and look up the next one Maquina and bring back the third offset cell. I was wondering if it can be done with the vlook up.
