Highlight Column Conditional Formating

Hi

I have a Excel 2003 workbook and have one single row which contains numbers. I am try to populate A1 with the lowest number in that row, which I can do by =MIN(B1:L1)

However I would like to highlight the 'whole' column (not single cell) that was identified as lowest. How do I dentify the column Letter that is lowest and then highlight this with a color?

Select B1

Format Conditional Formatting

Under Condition1
Select Cell Value Is
In the first box select equal to
In the next box $A$1
Click the Format Button and Select Patterns and a colour for the Backround click OK

Copy B1 and Paste Special to C1:L1 Formats only.

Thanks for the response, the above works great but it only applies fill affect to one cell. How do I get it to apply fill to the whole column?

Im not sure what to put in the "Use formula to determine which cells to format"

highlight aross your columns B:L then conditional format / formula is

=B$1=min=$B$1:$L$1)

now format your colour

A quick additional comment. When you highlight for conditional formatting, look out for the cell with focus - it's the one that's a slightly different colour than the rest. If highlighting B:L, then it'll be B1; if highlighting in the other direction (L:B, selects same range and shows as B:L), then it'll be L1.

The formula you write is applied to the cell with focus and relative references change from there, so grizzly6969's formula is perfect if you highlight from B to L as indicated! Just watch out for the cell with focus - it's caught me out before!
