    Thumbs up Spreadsheet for Cricket

    Hi Everyone. Im new to this so please bare with me. i have a box of 12 cells from b28, through to D33.
    In row 1........Are the total no, of runs in the over, A is the Over No, M is if 0 runs are scored in the over bowled.
    in row 2 & 3.....are the runs scored per ball bowled
    in row 4 ..........are the no, of Wides bowled per over
    in row 5...........are the no, of NO Balls bowled per over
    in Row 6..........first no, is wickets taken per over, 2nd is the total of balls bowled per over. last no, are runs scored of the bat , not including extras.

    5 A M
    1 W 1
    1 1 0
    0 0 0
    0 0 0
    1 6 5

    how can i take the total no, of runs in Cell B28 and place that figure into another cell (AQ29 in this instance) This cell must look for the Over no, ( A , B or C or D for instance )

    Before a moderator comes on and gives you a spanking, might I suggest you modify your post to include some details around the specific Excel issues you might be having? Sounds like you've got an interesting project on your hands, so there will be a number of people here with useful help for you when you ask a specific question.

    thank you for your advice, i have also noticed it says im on excel 2003 , how do i change it to 2007

    Thanks Barry. I have already used that one to record wickets for precific bowlers stats, Im trying to use a formula that picks up W from the overs cells and transfers it to the wickets cell.

    The COUNTIF should work equally well in this scenario.

    Simply type =COUNTIF(

    then highlight the cells you want to count the Ws in

    then finish the formula with ,"W")

    I have attached a sheet, hope it is something like you are after. I have assumed that each over will be in a line in its own box of 18 cells. I had to rename the overs as AA instead of A or the lookup would not work as you are using M and W already.

    Cricket

    i have attached a copy of what ive prepared so far,
    im trying to find a way of asking to look for AA ( anywhere between cells B2 and Y16 )
    and then take the figure in the appropriate yellow filled cell next to it ( ie AA is in C2, yellow box is B2 = 6)
    What ever the figure is in B2(6) im trying to put it into AQ3

    any help would be appreciated

    There is most likely a better way to do this but I think I got it going in the end. The lookup and index would not work on multiple lines so I have nested the if statements on errors.

    Barry, You star. Works brilliantly on the sample i sent you , BUT, my document has more bowlers rows so all the cell no,s are not working. my no, is you want to call me is 01865-400958 and maybe we could sort it over the phone. if not, i will have to sent the complete doc. with all its correct cell no,s to work with.

    If you want to post another sheet i will have a look at it but the last version was beyond me really, you can see the formula is a bit messy even though it works. I'm sure there are ways of doing anything its just finding the way.

    i have attached the cricket (2) version. When you open it, the sheet im working on is called score book and not sheet two which is the one you have seen.

    Minty sorry this took so long but I kept checking every couple of days to see if you had posted the worksheet but I did not see it as I did not realise there was a second page.
    Any way I think this sheet should work ok but I had to do it in vba.
