Line chart should ignore blank data values

I have an Excel 2010 worksheet with column A being a range of dates (1/1/11, 1/2/11, 1/3/11, etc.) and column B being values for each date. Occasionally there will be a day when I cannot get a data value for that date. In that case, the cell in column B contains nothing.

When I create a line chart of that data, the line drops to zero for each blank cell. It shouldn't do that because there isn't a zero in the data cell; it is blank. I want the line to ignore the blank cells. For example, if the value for June 1 was 10, for June 2 was blank, and for June 3 was 20, the line should extend directly from 10 (June 1) to 20 (June 3) without dropping to zero for June 2.

How can I get my Excel 2010 line chart to do that?

    Hello,

right-click the chart and select "Select Data" to open the Data Source dialog. Click "Hidden and Empty Cells" and select "Connect data points with line"

    cheers,

If the cells are truely empty and teylyn suggestion of checking the 'plot empty cells as' is not working check the chart type is not stacked line.
    Cheers
