You want to paste into a cell or range of cells that contains a link or links?

Yes, the data would change, but the links under the data would stay the same.

Perhaps selecting the data to copy and then paste special-values only, is the way to go for your problem.

Not without some sort of mock workbook containing links and also the html document.

Re: Copy and Paste and keep links

I convert many tables from html as part of my job and cannot straight copy/paste html tables over linked cells without the paste removing the link. What I do here is have a staging sheet where the html tables are loaded into to be cleaned and readied for the data store sheets. Creating something like what I just described enables straight data transfers from html without affecting formulas or links. However, there is a fair bit of coding involved.

You can do it but, and someone will correct me if I am wrong, you'll have to do some coding or provide and example like I had asked for in post # 5 so that it can be worked on.

Re: Copy and Paste and keep links

Here is an example of what I was talking about....
    I have two tabs...

TAB "DASHBOARD" in the spreadsheet looks like:

    Organization	Total Number of Investments
    ACC 143
    AETC 105
The Organization is a link, so if you click on ACC then it takes you to the "DETAIL tab which contains ALL the data for both organizations but filters on ACC, same for AETC...

Now if you click on the numbers, say 143 in the DASHBOARD tab, it takes you to the DETAIL tab as well, there should be 143 lines of ACC items listed (filtered)...

Like I said before though, if I copy it in from the html file, I lose all those links and filters.....

    Many Thanks ahead of time....
