Edit an EXCEL worksheet from 2 computers

Following the instructions on the Microsoft web site I was still unable to edit an EXCEL worksheet simultaneous from 2 computers with Windows XP home.

I am told my Microsoft support that it cannot be done.

Can I do it with Windows 7 Home ?
Microsoft could not answer this question.

It's nothing to do with the version of Windows, it is a limitation in Excel.

In theory, you can share a workbook but this is generally not recommended as it presents more problems than it resolves.

You may be better having "front-end" and "back-end" Excel workbooks. Each user would have a separate copy of the front-end workbook and they would link to the back-end workbook and update it.

You may need VBA for this but it would certainly require some design effort.
