COUNTA - counting cels which show a value

    Hi,

Could someone please show me how to use COUNTA (or indeed another function if necessary) to count the number of cells in a range which show a value?

I have a range of cells and some of them don't show a value; however, the IF function used in those cells use a value if false of "" which the COUNTA interprets as being a populated cell.

I've attached an example, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

Using your posted workbook...this regular formula counts the text cells that contain at least one character

    Does that help?
